Don’t Drift Away

I cherish this land,

This land I call my home.

It is a gift from God.

I should never feel alone.

Our God did not leave us,

Although we turned our head,

Away for what is right.

We pleased ourselves instead.

Change happened gradually,

As we left the foundations of God.

We drifted away from our Maker,

As on this earth we trod.

Drifting away is dangerous.

It means we have lost control.

We forgot about the rules

And how to be made whole.

A nation split in half,

Cannot function together.

We will be caught off-guard,

In the midst of the bad weather.

We must pay attention,

To the rules that God set.

We can come our victorious,

And live without regret.

If we drift into immorality,

It will leave it’s mark.

We can get lost real easily,

As in this trip we embark.

We listen to many masters,

But do not honor the One,

Who created us in the beginning,

The One who sent us His Son.

We are no longer a nation,

Who has the most control.

We forgot who we are,

And the God that made us whole.

Liberty was given us,

But the cost was not free.

Many have given their lives,

To secure this liberty.

They gave their lives,

Believing in God up above.

They gave us their all.

They showed us God’s love.

They have protected our borders,

And helped other countries too.

We can still be free today,

Under this red, white and blue.

Don’t drift away from,

Our Master over all.

Listen to His Word,

Heed His Mighty call.

A call for true peace,

A call for pure love.

We can still be blessed,

By our God up above.

We have to honor Him,

And what He has to say.

We must go back to God,

And not be led astray.

We cannot slip away,

Into all different directions.

If we expect to be His people,

And call for His protection.

Hebrews 2: 1-4

1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
