Discipline Yourself

Discipline is your friend.

It is no enemy to you.

Self-control is a gift,

So you can follow through.

If you have no direction,

You will lose your way.

It will take you somewhere,

You did not want to stay.

You may end up in a pit,

That is difficult to get out.

No one will help you,

Even if you scream and shout.

You came too close to the enemy.

You did not stop soon enough.

Now you’re in a position,

Where your life is too tough.

The Word of God has power,

And it can lead the way.

You will find a place of comfort,

Where you will want to stay.

There is a peaceful Spirit,

That lives inside of you.

Listen to that warning voice,

That is giving you a clue.

Talk to yourself and His Spirit.

Let the self-discipline within you,

Develop who you are,

And do what you need to do.

TRW 8-30-16

2 Peter: 2-8

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus came to earth to teach us the law of love and to go to the cross as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all of mankind (past and present). He left us with the Holy Spirit that lives within us. His Spirit can guide us. He can tell us “yes or no”. This is what self-discipline is. Some people call it the “little voice in your head”.  People have the ability to know right from wrong. Self-discipline is what determines our actions. Grace and peace will be multiplied through the knowledge of God. Listen to His Spirit that lives with-in you.
