Humility is a Necessity

Humility is a necessity,

To get along with others.

It will keep us from fighting,

Our sisters and brothers.

Let the “right” go.

Yours is not the only way.

Is it really that important,

If you want friends to stay.

Decension can be brought about,

By demanding things go your way.

You will gain more respect,

If you are humble each day.

God will lift you up,

When others do not see.

Sharing is about others.

It is not just about “me”,

When you get your way,

How does it make you feel?

Are you somehow empowered?

Does your importance become real?

What about the other person?

Have you belittled them?

Is being the right one,

Worth hurting a friend?

Learn to step back,

To prevent strife to sneak in.

Strife can lead to anger,

And anger will lead to sin.

You don’t always have to lead,

It is better just to love.

Your opinion may not be needed.

So listen to your Father above.

He will build you up,

As you are humble in life.

Get along with each other.

Go “the mile” to prevent strife.

TRW 9-10-16

1 Corinthians 1:9-10

9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Many people are “right fighters”. They will fight over anything to feel like they are right. For some reason they have a need to be “on top of the pile”. Being on top can be a very lonely place to be. If a person always needs to be right, it will be at a price of another person being wrong. If that person already is having a bad day, and you have to put them down to build yourself up, you have just wounded them emotionally. Is the cause really worth it? Most of these things that we fight over are not really important at all. Pick your battles wisely. Is the fight worth the outcome? It is more important to walk in unity with your brother than it is to bicker over things that do not really matter. We are servants of God and how we act can determine how another person sees God. Are you representing a God of love? Are you humble? God will reward those who are meek and humble. That is the better reward to work for.
