Keeping focused on God,

And take your eyes off of you.

Our human flesh is weak,

And tries to tell us what to do.

If it tastes good to us,

Then we just want to eat.

If things get too hard in life,

Then we just accept defeat.

If it looks good to us,

Then we open our eyes,

Our eyes lead to our mind,

And bad things can be disguised.

If it feels good to us,

We just take it all in.

We forget to examine it,

And get led into sin.

Every choice is yours,

Every step that you take,

Can lead to God’s ways,

Or can be a big mistake.

Satan tempts the senses.

It is what we see, hear or feel.

There is a sea of temptation,

That is of Satan and is real.

God will protect you.

And keep you from the fall,

But you have to keep focused,

On the Creator of it all.

James 1:12-14

12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Without focusing on the Word of God, you will be tempted to yield to the flesh or your senses (what looks good, what feels good, what tastes good, what sounds good). Satan even came to Jesus in the desert and tried to tempt Him when He was fasting and praying. Jesus kept the Word of God in His heart and on His lips and He combated Satan with the Word of God. When tempted to eat and break His fast, Jesus used God’s words of  “Man does not live on bread alone”. If Jesus was tempted by Satan, think of how more vulnerable we are in the times of temptations. Jesus had all the senses that we have. He walked here in human flesh with human needs.  He showed us how to defeat Satan and warned us to be aware always of Satan’s presence here on the earth. He showed us how He stayed focused on His task.
