Self-Discipline

Discipline yourself.

Have some self-control.

Happiness cannot be bought.

Stuff cannot make you whole.

Walk in freedom each day.

Don’t fall into a hole.

Peace cannot be bought.

Peace is freedom in your soul.

Give your life to God

Don’t let money rule your life.

Be wise and stay in balance,

So you will not increase your strife.

Think about tomorrow.

Don’t just live for today.

Before you make that purchase,

Go to God and pray.

Is the item worth the worry?

Have you saved some for tomorrow?

Will it really increase your joy,

Or just add to your sorrow?

Love God’s Word first.

Let some of your “things” go.

Don’t get into deep water,

Where you are tossed to and fro.

Live for God’s glory.

Think before your spend.

Make good choices in your life,

So you can be happier in the end.

Waste not, want not,

Is a good way to live.

Use what you’re given.

Learn to save and to give.

Believe in God’s abundance,

Understand balance in your life.

Use His gifts wisely.

Walk in freedom, not in strife.

TRW 3-31-17

1 Peter 5: 7-11

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Satan uses many things to mess up our lives. He uses money many times, because money distracts us from what is really important in life. Many times we look to “things” to make us happy. Most Americans buy beyond their means and let debt controls their lives. They cannot walk in the freedom that God wants for His children. Most of us have made purchases that have been a mistake and that put us in a place of debt that makes us unhappy. It is important that we learn to control our purchases, so that they do not control us. There are many formulas out there, to suggest how to live in balance. Making a budget and sticking to it, relieves stress in the end. One such formula is 10% to God in tithe, 10% in savings, 10 % for pleasure and 70% for living expenses (house, car, gas, utilities, food, insurance, health care, clothes, etc.). A friend of mine always said that her and her husband pray about bigger purchases and always give themselves 3 days to think before they make that purchase. Control your money. Use self-discipline and don’t let money control you.
