Trust Your Conscience

You have a voice inside of you,

That will direct right from wrong.

Can you trust your conscience?

Are you where you belong?

Are you headed for a shipwreck,

As you face the raging sea?

Is your heart in conflict?

Are your eyes opened to see?

Your conscience will remind you,

That you are a child of the King.

You must walk in His shadow,

Because you wear His signet ring.

The day you gave your heart to Him,

You chose a different path.

You have so much more help.

You have a courage that will last.

You will need to have a coach,

To cheer you along life’s way.

Your conscience will help you,

To keep from going astray.

Your conscience is like a muscle,

That should not be wasted away.

We must try to make good choices,

To keep from going astray.

Listen for the Holy Spirit.

You have Him inside of you.

He will protect and guide daily,

In everything you do.

If that feeling inside of you,

Signals you of a concern.

Every day there is a battle.

With every battle, you will learn.

You will become stronger,

As the choices you make are right.

You will feel Him lift you up,

Out of the dangers of night.

We need to fight the darkness,

That tempts each of us to stray.

Our conscience is God-given.

With choices, remember to pray.

Pray for God’s guidance,

In everything you do.

Listen to your conscience,

His Spirit, that is within you.

1 Timothy 1:18-19

18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

We are born with a conscience. When we “dabble in sin”, we have made a conscious choice to go against what we feel is the right thing to do. We usually do this very young in our lives. We try a “little white lie” to keep us out of trouble. It did not feel good when we lied, but we felt like it kept us out of trouble. The problem with that little lie was that you usually had to lie again to cover up that lie and then maybe again and again. It never felt good or never felt right. It was like we had to hide to keep from being caught. That was our conscience warning us that the path we were taking was a dangerous one. God sees all and knows all. We cannot hide from Him. As we accepted Jesus in our hearts, we gave our conscience a Helper. We now have a better reason to try harder to do good and to avoid bad. We may have a bigger struggle. We are struggling with our identity. We now have to walk as a Christian. There is a calmness that will fill our hearts as we face the battles in life, based on our Christian values. We know that we can win with God on our side. No one is stronger than our God. No one is smarter than our God and no one is more  powerful that our God. He is our protector and the lover of our souls. Listen to that little voice in your head that will demonstrate who you are. You are a child of the Most High King, the Master of the Universe.
