Just One Little Bite

Just one little bite,

Is how disobedience started.

It made mankind sinful.

They became broken hearted.

They were no longer perfect.

They were no longer whole.

They lost their freedom.

They tarnished their soul.

The barrier was set.

The curtain was put in place.

We were ashamed to talk to God.

We needed to hide our face.

Mankind’s fate was set.

Nothing was free anymore.

Life would be hard,

Separation from God in store.

Temptation would be abundant.

Satan could mess with our mind.

His ways ate so vicious.

He is cunning and unkind.

We are prisoners in this world,

But God provided a way.

He sent His only Son,

To help us find a way.

A way to forgiveness,

A way to be made whole.

Jesus died for all our sins,

So that we could be made whole.

There is no longer a barrier,

To talk to God face to face.

We can witness His love.

We can feel His grace.

Jesus is the way to forgiveness,

for all the world’s sins.

He is the way to freedom,

And the only way to win.

We can win this battle,

That has tainted our life.

With His Spirit within us,

We can overcome all strife.

We are once again His children,

The way it was meant to be.

We will be accepted into heaven,

Where it is perfection for eternity.

Genesis 3:1-9

1Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

7And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

8And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

9And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

The story of Adam and Eve is the story of our life. We are tempted by Satan every day. He will make sin seem minimal and as if it is not going to hurt anyone, but in truth any little sin is an offense to the God who made us. God had our salvation and release from the devil set in place. God knows we are not strong when it comes to temptation. He can see the devil at work trying to put a wedge between us and God. Satan was an angel who gave up his privilege to be among God’s favored creatures. He really thinks that He has more control than God does. He is in a constant battle and we are the territory he tries to conquer every day. He wants to offer us something that is not good for our souls. He will tell you “one little bite won’t hurt”. A little sin  still hurts the heart of the God who created us. Jesus, our Lord and Savior suffered awful torture and death on the cross as atonement for our sins (the big sins and the “little bites” of sin). Little bites of sin weaken us and make us want a little more, until we can no longer recognize that it is harmful to our souls and our relationship with God. As we face this battle, we need to call upon the Name of Jesus and ask His Spirit to guide us through the messes in life. He will help us face the adversary and the temptation into sin. When we fall into sin, realize the tricks of Satan and call on the name of our Lord. He will be there in the midst of your mess and will help your out.
