Standing Amazed

You Say

You say you love Jesus,

But do you act like Him?.

You took the name of Christian,

But still like to dabble in sin.

You say you love your neighbor,

But when did you last pray,

For their health and happiness,

At the end of each day.

Love is not just and emotion,

It is a commitment for life.

You can concentrate on others,

Without taking on envy or strife.

Love has to be on purpose,

Some people are not easy to love.

Love is from you mind and emotion,

And you’ll need guidance from above.

The Spirit of Jesus in within you.

He is truth, and love, and peace.

Giving your time to others,

Will allow that love to be released.

Love has its own payback.

It helps to fill the heart and soul.

Love completes our purpose.

Love makes us complete and whole.

Jesus gave us His personal command,

Which is to love your neighbor as yourself.

Love must be given away,

Or will decay if left on the shelf.

Life can be full of pleasure.

Life will have much less pain.

Jesus gave us His life,

So that we could gain.

1 John 4:7-13

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

We have to be careful in this world, not to get caught up in the drama that surrounds us every day, whether it be in the political world, or a matter in our hometown. It is easy to get involved in the local gossip. Gossip seldom involves love. When you say your prayers at night, do you consider praying for a neighbor or an acquaintance? I believe that your prayers may make a difference. Do you pray for your government leaders, even if you did not vote for them? Do you pray for those oppressed in other countries? Maybe your intercessory prayer may keep and innocent child from harm. Add someone to your prayer life, even if you do not know them. At times, I pick an imaginary family in another country and pray for their well-being. This is just one way, we can give away love. Concentrate on love and you will avoid the traps of Satan.

Pressing Forward

Keep on pressing forward.

Do not keep looking back.

Enjoy the prospects of a future,

Where you have no feeling of lack.

Let go and back down,

From worries of the past.

Look toward eternity with Jesus.

In a paradise that will always last.

Look beyond the mountain,

That is blocking your view.

Get rid of the past baggage,

That prevents you from feeling new.

Surrender the old creature,

The one that was lost in sin.

He no longer exists with Jesus.

It is He who will help you win.

God has a future for you,

That may be hard to see.

Don’t block His loving Spirit,

Who will help you be well and free.

Free to climb that mountain,

To see what is on the other side.

You can let go of the regrets,

And have no reason to hide.

Keep your head up,

Instead of looking down.

Think of your new future.

Put on a smile instead of a frown.

Life is meant to be good.

Our heavenly Father loves us so.

Feel His Spirit within you,

And feel that heavenly glow.

Philippians 3:11-15

11If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

When you feel down and as if you have lost sight of your goal, forget the past and think about the future in eternity and you can go from feeling like a looser to being a winner. The future is better than any lottery drawing you could possibly win. There can be no dollar value placed on eternity in heaven.  You can have a wealth of spirit and walk in confidence that all things will work out for your good.

What is the mountain that you feel is in front of you? Why is that mountain important? How is climbing that mountain going to bring glory to God? Instead of climbing that mountain can you just remove it from your vision?

It Will Happen

We get tired of waiting,

But the Lord will come again.

We will be raptured up to heaven,

To be with our dearest Friend.

Our Friend has been so faithful.

We will be raptured by His grace.

We will be changed in an instant,

And be able to see His Holy face.

We will see our Father God,

Just like the great Book said.

We will be alive forever,

Nevermore to be dead.

Our sins were forgiven,

By the sacrifice of the Son,

We will understand the Spirit,

And that all three are One.

Everything that did not make sense,

Will be as clear as the day.

It will be just as He said.

And we will be welcomed to stay.

Nevermore to feel turmoil,

Nevermore to suffer pain or grief,

The mystery will be revealed,

And we will have total relief.

Perfection will be realized.

No evil can enter there.

We are forever with the Creator,

The One who really cares.

We will have a new body,

And wisdom beyond compare.

All of this is possible,

Because God wanted to share.

He wanted to share paradise,

And Jesus erased our sin.

There are no more battles,

Because of Jesus we will win.

Revelation 21:4

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

We all get weary when we face one problem after the other on this earth. There is still much beauty which God had created, such as nature and the beauty of a new life, but too many times there are more and more negative things happening. Many people wonder how long God will put up with such corruption and wickedness. Christians look forward to the resurrection or the rapture, where those who claimed Jesus, will be caught up with Him. Those who did not claim Him as Savior, will be left behind. Christians have so much to look forward to.

Do you remember when you got saved? How did your heart feel? Think about that closeness that you felt and the safety and peace that covered you? Who do you want to be able to introduce this free gift to? Pray for them right now. Pray for them every day this week and then claim another life for Jesus.

God is Just

God is all merciful,

But is also the judge of all.

He gave us the ability to soar,

But we also could choose to fall.

He can give us anything we ask,

But some things are not so good.

We need to walk in faith,

And do the things we should.

God wants us to love all.

He wants us to shine like His Son.

Jesus is the perfection of His Word.

He is where our re-birth came from.

Sin cannot go without punishment,

So Jesus came to this earth,

To correct all that has been wronged,

To make us righteous with a new birth.

Jesus will return to the earth,

And it will be made new again,

You want to be on the right side.

He is your truest friend.

He is preparing our new home.

He will gather His church in.

The Father will need to judge those left,

Who chose to walk in unforgiven sin.

The perfect sacrifice of Jesus,

Has made us righteous and pure.

Our sins have been forgotten,

Of this you can be sure.

God is Truth

Jesus is our Friend.

The Spirit resides in us.

For believers there is no end.

TRW 10-02-18

2 Corinthians 5:10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.

1 Peter 4:17– For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?

John 3:18– He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3:17– For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

There are many people who recognize that there is a God and they will say that,  “If He loves people, He wouldn’t  send anyone to hell.” He is a God of Righteousness and Perfection. He alone is a perfect judge, so if you deny Jesus and what He did, you also have denied God and He will deny you on judgement day. The same is true for every human being. That is the reason that Christians must talk about Jesus and salvation, is because they do not want to see their friends or family sent to hell for eternity. This life on earth is just a short moment in time, but eternity will come and the choice is ours to choose Jesus or to deny Him.

Is there anyone that you know that has not claimed Jesus as their Lord and Savior? Would you want to see them go to hell? Who do you need to witness to?

Facing the Storms

We will face many storms in life,

Because Satan walks in this land.

Life was mean to be beautiful,

With love spectacular and grand.

You’ve lost your joy for life.

Your love of life becomes dull.

It was meant to be abundant,

And meant to be happy and full.

Fear was not meant to be part,

Of the way you face the storm.

You are to walk in certainty;

Not disappointed and forlorn.

Walk in self-confidence,

As the enemy walks about.

Know that this storm will pass,

So give a praise and shout.

Start to pray more fervently,

Until you feel His Spirit near.

Your Savior is listening,

Ready to make stormy days clear.

God has given us the spirit of power,

To stir up the feeling of love,

Knowing you are connected,

With your Creator up above.

Do not get discouraged,

But go to the Holy Book.

Listen to what the Spirit says,

Take another look.

Jesus gave us the power,

To do greater things than He.

He calmed the stormy waters,

And walked upon the sea.

You can survive the wicked lies,

That Satan throws your way.

You have a perfect future,

With your Father forever to stay.

2 Timothy 1:6-7

6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

We face many storms in life, whether they be physical, emotional or spiritual. These storms are all a part of the battles that Satan has planned for your life. His goal is to break you down so that you forget how to seek your Father God in heaven. He puts fear in your heart so that you are not able to see the storm for what it is…. It is just another lie from Satan. God did not make you to be weak and to be defeated. He gave you all the tools to defeat the enemy, but you must remember those tools as the battle begins, before you are so wounded that you feel that death is near. Satan wants you to be weak and to fall and to fail. Pick up the armor that God has supplied you with in His Word and march into battle with the knowledge that you will win and you will defeat Satan’s every attempt at your soul.

Can you remember that last bad event that happened in your life, which you finally overcame? As you look back at that storm, think of how you could have lessened the pain by using the Word of God as your armor? What reassurance was there in the Holy Scripture that you could have repeated over and over until the storm passed? Find that scripture and place it in your battle gear for the next time you have a face-off with Satan.

Listen, Learn and Obey

oct2009 chincoteague 038

Learn to listen to God,

Learn to trust and obey.

Understand the Word of love,

If in His grace you want to stay.

His Word is written to meet you,

Wherever you are at today.

You may be in  a very dark place,

But that’s not where you are meant to stay.

He can lift you higher,

Than you ever deserve to go.

He will lift you from the storm,

As you are tossed to and fro.

The storms may be many.

The storms may be very great.

If you trust in His Word,

He will not show up too late.

He loves you today,

And has plans for your tomorrow.

He will give you abundant joy,

To replace your great sorrow.

God gave His Son for you.

He gave His Son for me.

We were not meant for slavery,

But to be bold and to be free.

God wants to speak to you.

So open up your ears.

He will give your heart pleasure,

And wipe away your tears.

Take some time to listen,

Take some time to pray.

Learn how to trust His Word,

And make your best effort to obey.

Ephesians 1:13

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Proverbs 1:5

A wise [man] will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

Proverbs 25:12

[As] an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, [so is] a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

One great Bible story about obedience is the story of Noah and the flood. Noah was a good and righteous man and he communicated with God through prayer and supplication. He listened for and heard the voice of God and started to build the ark, as others ridiculed him for this folly. He did exactly what he was told, knowing that the end for others was soon to come. He had to trust in God’s word and then had to act upon that word he was given by God. He obeyed God and made the ark to the exact specifications of God. When the great flood came, Noah and his family were saved. We need to spend quiet time with God to hear His voice. Ask Him what He wants you to do and then do it.

What do you think God wants you to do?  ____________________________________________________________________________________________

Take off the Grave Cloths

Take off the grave cloths.

They are from your former life.

They will smell of smoke and death,

And all forms of trouble and strife.

You may have been in the furnace,

With death being a certainty,

But Jesus came into the furnace,

And set the captives free.

The captive had the bad memories,

And didn’t want to let them go.

They had too many storms in life,

And remembers being tossed to and fro.

The captive stood in continual fear,

Because of the past he had seen.

He does not trust another’s heart,

And responds by being mean.

He stands determined not to be hurt,

So he covers himself with a lie.

He is ready to fight a good fight,

To avoid being hurt and wanting to cry.

He forgot about God’s forgiveness.

He forgot about seeing God’s face,

And how His God rescued him,

And brought him back to grace.

He is now a different creature,

Without even the smell of smoke.

He does not have to live in ridicule;

The other end of people’s jokes.

Jesus walked out with him,

From the mess that he was in.

Jesus gave him a cloak of righteousness,

And forgave and forgot his sin.

Daniel 3:20

And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 22 Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace…….26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire…….28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. 29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. 30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

This fiery furnace may represent the life that we have known. We think we have accepted Jesus as our Lord, but life has drug us down once again. Satan turned up the fire and we allowed the flames to leave the scars in our mind. We remember the people who hurt us and every detail of the problem which we had experienced. We place an iron curtain around our hearts so that we will never be hurt again. We wear that shield of distrust, so that others can no longer hurt us. We may choose to hurt someone else so that they do not get a chance to hurt us first. There is a saying that “Hurt people, hurt people”. They are wearing their past as their shield against possible hurt. Jesus led these three young men out of the furnace because of their belief. There was no smell of smoke on them. Jesus took them out of the furnace and placed them in the palace and their faith also saved their people. We should not live in the past, but continue to seek a bright future with Jesus as our rescuer.

Get It in Gear

Get your life out of park.

Get it back in gear.

Don’t settle for so much less,

But start with your Savior so dear.

Get ready to take the next step,

But start with God first.

Your destination has been bought.

Seek what is good and not the worst.

It’s not because you deserve better,

But it has been offered to you.

Look for the bright ending,

Realizing God will pull you through.

The roadway might look bad,

But look further than you can see.

Get your life back in gear,

For your life in eternity.

You have a new bright future,

But you have to start your trip.

Every roadway is important,

And an experience not to skip.

You are not all alone here,

So you need to take a chance.

Jesus is preparing a great feast,

So don’t skip the chance to dance.

Put God’s joy in your heart,

And put a smile on your face.

Put your heart and soul in gear,

As you get ready to run your race.

Get your life out of park.

Get back to the business of life.

Don’t settle for so much less.

Go beyond your pain and strife.

Matthew 12:13

Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

Matthew 14:36

And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

Matthew 15:28

Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Mark 10:52

And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Proverbs 4: 25-26

25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

All of these examples in the Bible speak of people who are stuck where they do not want to be. They need to do something. They need to have enough faith to go forward to receive what God has planned for them. They need to have faith and go, and then trust God to take care of the rest. They did not stay in their state of illness but had a hope for a better life and were willing to seek Jesus for their healing and for a better life. A person without hope, is already defeated. Satan will mess with your life in so many ways to discourage you from seeking the good that God has planned for you. Get your life in gear by praying first and claiming what good that God has for you. Walk each day with the attitude that it will be a good day.

Don’t rush around each day,

As you face problems in your life.

Use discernment of God’s law,

To find peace and not strife.

If you want to find the true nature,

Of the things we need to do .

The wise will increase their learning,

And God will help them carry through.

A fool thinks they know everything.

Their confidence is in one’s self.

They put themselves above others,

Taking the highest spot on the shelf.

They want to be honored by men,

And need to be noticed by all.

They are asking for trouble,

Because pride goes before the fall.

Take your time to think,

Before you blurt out and talk.

Use the wisdom in the scripture,

And allow the Spirit to help you walk.

Put on the mind of Christ,

Instead of the desires of man.

This will not come naturally,

In this carnal type of land.

Life is not all about you,

But you were born to share.

Put on the love of Christ.

And show others how He cares.

TRW 9-26-18

1 Corinthians 2:11-16

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Hebrews 5:10-14

10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

It seems just natural for people to want to give advice to another person, whether they ask for advice or not. They start out by saying: “If you ask me”. Usually no one has even asked them for their advice and they have an answer that is the first thing out of their brain and off of their lips. This advice is usually not the wisest decision or advice that you could give another. The wise man will wait until they are asked for their opinion and then they will say: “Let me pray and study out your problem and give you the best advice I can give you.” The person of wisdom will want time to use discernment, sorting out things for the best decision possible.  This space of time will also allow you to go back to the scripture and see what God has already written about the subject matter. Most people have a “gut feeling” about “good verses evil”, but need to take time to discern the problem so that they react by thinking and not by emotions. The book of Proverbs is written by Solomon, the wisest man and is interesting to read and his advice is sound enough that it was chosen for the Holy Scripture. Solomon knew that his source was God and not man.
